Fashion Week is right around the corner and as someone who consideres herself a fashion addict, I can honestly say I’m really excited! As we all know, many designers showcase their upcoming collections during the event, and the coverage will be insane! Personally, as much as I love the fashions, I try not to get too caught up in the media driven hype since most of the time I totally disagree with what they deem as the new “it” line. However, there are a few designers that I am excited about: BCBG Max Azaria, Miss Sixty, Betsey Johnson, and Lacoste.

BCBG Max Azaria and Miss Sixty in my opinion are the two most budget-friendly-without-being-hideous lines featured this upcoming Fashion Week, which is probably why I like them so. Not only are the pieces trendy and cute, but with their reasonable prices I don’t feel guilty about spending money on them, which is such a big factor to me. Especially with my student budget, I have a tough time justifying spending an excessive amount of money on clothing. Shoes,on the other hand, are another story. Anyway, back on topic:

Both lines are flirty and fun, and add just the right amount of sophistication so that young women can strut her stuff without seeming pretentious, and older women can rock the clothing without looking desparate. Loves?! Yes, indeed!

Betsey Johnson’s line is so exciting because I feel she designs for the little girl in all of us. From tutus to tiaras, it’s always fun to check out her runway shows and the best thing about her line is that it’s something all girls can relate to, whether their style is punk or preppy. Also reasonably priced, I don’t feel like her line excludes the younger, fashionable girls who may be working with an allowance from the ‘rents, but still want to look nice. Betsey really knows how to design something that’s totally wild, and totally worthwhile.  I can’t wait to see what unique pieces she has for Spring 2009!

Now, Lacoste, which I’ve often heard referred to as Crayola Prep, is one of the lines I’m interested in, not so much for myself to wear, but just because I like the aesthetics. The clean lines and bold colors really stand out in my opinion, as many designers seem to think that bright yellows and pinks can’t convey a sense of sophistication. What I love about Lacoste is just that: their clothing has this slightly snobby air to it, yet it’s totally fun and inviting, due in part to the “happy colors”. Not only that, but I love love love how much the line reminds me of Gossip Girl. Yeah, I said it! LOL. Can’t you just picture Chuck in one of those sweater vests? Ooh, yum!
